Getting Started ...
This site has been set up in response to the pandemic. I normally run busy, daily acupuncture surgeries from Carlisle Therapies and regular weekly yoga classes from both Carlisle and Keswick, including my popular Absolute Beginners Yoga 5 week course. Currently, my face-to-face acupuncture clinics and yoga classes are suspended. I am now offering virtual acupressure appointments, yoga videos and shortly online classes. These are primarily for the use of my weekly regular yoga students to help them continue yoga from home and complete beginners to yoga who wish to book onto my Absolute Beginners Yoga 5 week course. All the videos are private and may be used for free if you request to join my private videos group in my Facebook group, Ruth Irving Yoga.
VIDEOS There are a selection of pre-recorded videos for you to choose from. If you are a regular student of mine then my Whole Body or Acu-Yoga Invigorate flows are a good start as they closely mirror our usual classes. The videos vary to give you a taster of different yoga styles. Each video page includes a short summary of the flow and what you will need. If you are unable to use a mat my Beginners Chair Yoga may suit you.
BREATHE Pranayama (breathing techniques) may be practiced on their own. Warming up before sitting for pranayama should help you sit more comfortably enabling you to breathe with less physical distraction. Start your day with a cleansing few minutes of Lion's Breath or soothe an anxious mind with Deep Breathing.
MEDITATE I've included two meditations. A short 5 minutes Breathing Space and a 15 minutes Body-Scan.

VIRTUAL ACUPRESSURE APPOINTMENTS Acupressure may be described as acupuncture without needles. Put simply, it is the application of pressure onto specific acu-points to help re-balance any disharmony within your body (physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual) which may be manifesting as symptoms of dis-ease. I provide some self-help acupressure and other advice for Anxiety, Headaches & Migraines, Immune Support and Insomnia. Online acupressure consultations may be arranged.
